2nd ADB-DMC and Partners Sanitation Dialogue, Manila, Philippines, 23-25 May 2011

Theme: Making Sanitation a Sustainable Business
The event will also be used to launch the ADB Regional Technical Assistance on Promoting an Asia-Pacific Wastewater Management Revolution.
Objectives:
The dialogue aims to raise awareness of ADB Developing Member Countries (DMCs) on:
- the need to give priority to meeting their sanitation needs, including putting in place a comprehensive sanitation policy, if required, integrating sanitation and wastewater management into national development plans, increasing investment programming over their current levels, and ensuring viable and sustainable service delivery; and
- making environmental sanitation a sustainable business through discussion of successful projects involving creation of an enabling policy environment, and choice of technology and financing options
Target group: High-level government officials representing ministries of Finance, Health, Environment, and water-related ministries, city mayors, and representatives of water, sanitation and sewerage utilities, development partners, donor agencies, nongovernment organizations and private sector companies.

Philippine Symposium on Sustainable Sanitation, Makati City, Philippines, 15‐16 October 2009
Organised by: Philippine Ecosan Network (PEN) under the Stockholm Environmental Institute – EcoSanRes 2 Philippine Knowledge Node Project, and with support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
Theme – “Sustainable Sanitation Capacity Development for Decision Makers”
The Symposium will open with a Global Handwashing Day Celebration.
The objectives of the Symposium are:
- To promote Sustainable Sanitation and hygiene concepts, ideas and principles among major sanitation stakeholders and decision makers;
- To sustain the momentum of Sanitation initiatives created by the 2008 International Year of Sanitation and the National Sanitation Summits of 2006 and 2008;
- To gather and give recognition to leading institutions who have embarked on essential programs, innovative projects and good practices on sustainable sanitation and hygiene for everybody to learn from; and
- To share and inform the participants on major policy reforms and programmatic efforts by key stakeholders and support institutions.
The organisers also expect that the outcomes symposium will feed into the East Asia Ministerial Conference on Sanitation 2 (EASAN-2) in January 2010 to be hosted by the Government of the Philippines.

3rd National Conference on Small Water Service Providers, Davao City, Philippines, 19-20 August 2009
Organised by: Streams of Knowledge, National Water and Sanitation Association of the Philippines (NAWASA) and National Water Resources Board (NWRB)
Theme: Building Partnership: A Key to Effective Water Service Performance
The Conference intends to provide the platform where small water service providers can gain knowledge and exchange valuable experiences and expertise that would further improve water service delivery. The event is expected to be attended by more than 200 participants from water cooperatives, water associations, small and medium water entrepreneurs, government agencies, nongovernment organizations as well as donors and financing institutions.
